How to Wash a Weighted Blanket

If you have a weighted blanket for that deep touch pressure, it’s important to know the proper way weighted blankets work and the way of caring for them. There are many types and materials used in making these items that are applying evenly distributed pressure on your body; some include cotton or polyester fills for weight distribution while others contain glass beads instead for the deep pressure stimulation.

Keep it washed to keep it a calming weighted blanket

Make sure that when washing your invention (whether by hand) never use bleach because this will damage its integrity over time-only recommend cleaner options such as gentle detergents meant specifically made without optical brighteners which could cause fading reactions on colors closest eye level. Remember they are all about a good night’s sleep.

Machine Wash and Dry

For those who have a weighted blanket or if you like to call them a calming blanket, the care instructions can be found on their tag. For those without one but with an abundance of questions about how to clean them-just follow these three steps!

For cotton-filled blankets – wash in cold water using mild soap before laying flat to dry; do not microwave unless otherwise specified due to both temperature changes and exposure time (usually 10 minutes). If your polyester/rayon mix prefers surgical scrubbing fluid instead then we recommend the following neck down fluffing technique first then going straight into rinse cycle under gently.

How Often Should Weighted Blankets Be Washed?

If you use your weighted blanket every night for a restful night’s sleep, wash it once in a few weeks to prevent the build-up of sweat and body oils. If they’re only used occasionally on occasion like at home office desk or couch, then cleaning 3 – 4 times per year should suffice for them since these types don’t get worn out too quickly unlike some people think!
