6 Ways to Reduce PDF File Size on Mac without Losing Quality

We all know every blessing comes with a problem! LOL, that’s a natural fact.

No doubt Mac are the best computers out there in the market, but they lack a bit when it comes to compress pdf.

But don’t worry, I am here to help you with six ways to reduce PDF file size on Mac.

  1. Use FastStone Image Viewer

It is free software, and it is compelling. You can do many things with this single application. Its user-friendly interface makes everything much more simple to operate.

You can also adjust the resizing option for the pdf files, including width, height, and resolution.

For instance, do you want to reduce the size of a PDF file but still want it good Quality without compromising the layout or legibility of the text inside? That’s so easy now! Just go to “Image” and select “Properties,” then set desired size (width x height) in the “Resize image:” section and tap the OK button. And that’s it! 🙂

  1. Use Adobe Acrobat Pro DC

I know it sounds like an adobe product! But trust me, this is the best. You can use the Adobe application for many things, including editing pdf files and reducing their size.

But don’t worry, I am not here to advertise for them 🙂 I want you to get the best out of your bucks. And this software provides all that you need at a very low price compared to other pdf compressors available in the market, especially pdf size reduction online tools.

  1. Use Online Tools

Many online compressed pdf tools are there (compresspdfonline.net) that allow you to upload pdf files so they compress them online and give you a link to download files with reduced size.

And most of them are free, where you can reduce pdf size online free, and to me at least, this is the best method to go for. You don’t have to install anything and let other’s enter your computer.

  1. Convert PDF to Word

We often have pdf files that contain a lot of images, and sometimes the pdf file size becomes too big as it has many images. In such cases, converting pdf to the Word will be the best option as you can remove all those unwanted images from the text itself and then compress it to reduce its size.

Word is a beast, it can merge multiple pdf into a single file without converting them to Word, but it works best when you convert all the pdf pages into Word.

  1. Use Mac’s Built-In Functionality

Mac has some inbuilt functionality that helps you to compress pdf files and reduce their size. Here is how:

  1. First of all, open your pdf file with three fingers. Tap on Trackpad or click on “File” in the menu bar and choose “Print.”
  2. Now select desired printer in the Printer list and press “Page Setup” in the Print dialog box.

iii. In the Page Attributes window, under the Media Type section, change the Paper size from Letter (8 ½ x 11 inches)to US letter (8 ½ x 11 inches).

  1. Now choose “Print,” and you will see a drop-down menu in the Print dialog box that will allow you to change the page’s orientation from portrait to landscape, and thus your PDF file size gets reduced.
  2. That’s it! You have compressed the pdf file size without losing quality.
  3. Use Adobe PDF Packager

Adobe PDF Packager is an application that allows you to shrink documents without any visible degradation of the content.

Here are some features of this software: It is very easy to use. Just open it up, drag and drop your file into the toolbox on the left-hand side, then you can reduce pdf size quickly by clicking on the “Reduce File Size” button on the top of the app toolbar.

You can save your output as a separate single-page document or combine several pages into one page, which will reduce large file sizes.

I am not trying to advertise for this software but they do have limited days free trial so if you want more info about it check out their website. You can visit this site to know about RealPeopleSearch

  1. Convert to Image Files

In case, if you have a large-sized pdf file that contains plenty of texts with few images here and there, then convert this file into image files instead of pdf files, so that you get each page in separate files each having just text or just image depending upon what kind of original content is present inside the pdf only. Then compress these individual images (not necessarily jpeg) to reduce their file size.

No doubt mac is the best computer out there in the market, but when it comes to compress pdf they lack a bit. But don’t worry… yes, you can convert your pdf files to images and then reduce their size using some tools mentioned above.
